ABOUT ME

I have had an interest in computers since a very early age. I studied computer programming in high school through the school district's magnet program called Summit. After graduating from high school I attend Wiley College in Marshall, TX and obtain a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

I began working at Marshall High School in the fall of 2003. My supervisor realized that I had several skills that would better serve the school in another capacity. At this time she created the Instructional Technology Specialist position, I began to train staff in software that we were using to help bring our school inline with the district technology plan. I also managed and provided support for the assessment system that was purchased from Region VII that was used to monitor and improve student achievement.

As I worked for the school I realized that I had found my niche, I have always had a love for technology and I also have wanted to contribute to the success for others. The instructional technology specialist position allowed me to serve teachers in a capacity that increased their skill level which in turn helped to increase student achievement throughout the school. I began to research the position and found that I could obtain a master's degree in instructional technology.

During the time that I have been pursuing my master's degree I have had the opportunity to train other school districts in the use of the assessment system that was used in Marshall. I will be graduating on May 10th of this year and I look forward to continuing my career in instructional technology. I also plan to pursue a doctorial degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Instructional Technology.
