| I relate to the social constructivist epistemology, supported by pragmatism and interpretivism epistemological traditions. I believe that conclusions about things in the world are based on the individual’s perspective. I also believe that experience plays a role in a person’s learning. Once a person has experienced a situation, “the truth,” that person has the knowledge to address the situation with confidence if it occurs again thus being “freed.” I believe people learn about the world in differing ways. People find alternate “accidental” solutions to common problems everyday so a solution is never truly absolute. I also believe that every person can learn about their world by becoming knowledgeable of social issues, which leads to every person having the ability to make a difference in the world. |
